Here’s how it all started.

In 2011, I was working at Apple. Then I got fired. My wife was pregnant with twins, and I had no backup plan, just pressure. Then came a message: “Hey Alex, I’ve got $500. Can you build me a website?”
I had no idea how. But I said yes.

That one “yes” changed my life.

I began freelancing. Charging $1,200… $3,000… even $5,000. I still remember the day I pitched a $5K website and the client hesitated. I thought about lowering my price. My wife simply said: “Maybe he wasn’t the right fit.”
She was right. The business shut down 3 months later.

From that point on, $5K became my new baseline.

But it wasn’t all smooth. I drove Uber to pay the bills. One day, while picking up a ride, it hit me, this isn’t my client… this is Uber’s. If I didn’t learn how to get my own clients, I’d always work for someone else.

So I made it my mission: master client acquisition.

I studied, invested in mentors, and raised my rates. Soon $10K became my zero. Within a year, I hit six figures. Then I built and scaled an e-commerce brand, Caballero, and even bought the factory producing my shoes. I got a crash course in manufacturing, fulfillment, and team management, what it really means to run a business.

But I was also burning out.

In 2020, I lost everything. COVID hit. My factory shut down. We drained our savings and filed bankruptcy. That season almost broke me. But it also gave me clarity. I didn’t want a big business. I wanted a simple one. One rooted in joy, profit, and purpose.

So I shut everything down… except WebConsulting.com.

Today, I run a lean, focused business helping experienced web freelancers become high-paid web consultants, and eventually, fractional CMOs.
Not project-chasers. Not hourly workers. But trusted digital advisors who build strategy, lead clients, and create recurring revenue.

I’m not here to sell hype. I’m here to share the truth. What works. What doesn’t. And how to build a business that gives you freedom, not more pressure.
